Very authentic Mexican food and atmosphere. Friendly & attentive staff. Flavors of dishes is vibrant. Salsa tastes freshly made and a nice bite to it. House creamy green sauce is a great accent to the meal-typical Mexican hot! If you enjoy real authentic Mexican food you need to try this place. Soon to come is a branch of this restaurant in Seymour-can't wait!!

My wife and I are from Arizona and love good Mexican food. We have found a few good Mexican food restaurants in the Midwest, but most are average at best. This place is very good and pretty authentic - which means a little bit bland for my taste - I like spicy. The chili relleno was a tiny bit mushy, but I'm probably being a bit picky, but it had a very good flavor and some heat. Nothing was a disappointment - everything was good to very good and the service was excellent - definitely a good place to try when in the area

This place is awesome! Great mexican food. The staff is fun, friendly, knowledgible, and does a great job Great margaritas. My wife and I don't agree on where to go out to eat too often, but this is one of the easy calls for us. You HAVE to go here on your birthday. :)

Great food, service, and atmosphere. They have a large menu with many options. We enjoyed the outdoor patio. I've been to most of the Mexican restaurants in the area and this was my favorite.

Had a hankering for Mexican food, decided on el Jaripeo. The guacamole was great! Food can be pricey, but it was worth it. We give the waiter 5/5 stars.

It's okay. The tables, chairs and tiki bar are adorable and had me liking it when I first walked in. The salsa was alright and the queso cheese bean dip was good. But...from there it was downhill. First of all, the menu is huge which I think is a bit too much for a mexican restaurant (like a commercial mexican restaurant). Of all there was to try to decide from...there was no veggie burrito and I had to tell her how to do one (rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, salsa and guacamole (simple authentic)) which I don't think they did very well on that simplicity. Secondly...they didn't have Grand Marnier for the side to add to the margarita which is a classic add in. Overall, my view is, the place is adorable as heck but the food and drink...not so much that I'd rave about. Great to meet a bunch of people for atmosphere alone but that's it.

El Jaripeo is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Fox Cities. They have the most delicious cheese dip...and the bean dip is pretty good, too! Constant favorites are the Texas Burrito, Enchiladas Supremas, Fajita Nachos, Tacos Carne Asada, and the Mixed Vegetable plate!

Service is ok, margaritas taste like some kind of inexpensive premix and the food is as bland as I have ever tasted. A good crowd when we were there early on a Thursday evening so we expected it was popular for the food. Only reason I can come up with for the good crowd is that the food is inexpensive. All in all, I felt this place was giving the absolute minimum effort.

Meh. All I can say is, MEH. I ordered the Taquito platter and I got two, very small and nearly meatless fried tacos. They were incredibly dry, even with the flavorless guac. The fresh salsa that came with them was so old! I was appalled that they were still serving it. The tomatoes were soft, transparent and mushed together with sad jalapeños and onions. You can check em out on the pictures I posted. The enchiladas were what kind of earned this place a 1.5 star review. The sauce was quite good! I understand that what I grew up knowing as enchiladas, can be completely different to someone from another region of Mexico. No matter how they are made, all will be well if they are delicious! The chicken filling was a bit dry and the tortillas weren't fried, so they were really chewy. And to top it a off they smeared a giant wad of sour cream on too, no bueno. But again, I really liked the sauce.

The food is so good but the portions are so tiny. 11.00 for my meal and I left hungry

It's cheap and fast, even quite friendly service, but we all got sick after eating here.

Oscar & Tony are awesome! There is a new location in Darboy on Calumet. They are doing what they can to spoil us with fantastic food & drink. They have Dos Equis on tap now and another killer margarita called the "Jaripeo". It's delicious. This one isn't fruity or super sweet. I think Pancho came up with it. What... you don't know Pancho?? Of course you do! He can bring you a beer by balancing it on top of his head. Seriously! : D He has mad skills!!

Tried this place based on good reviews, after having dinner, decided the good reviews must have come from intoxicated patrons! The food was terrible with salty/brown guacamole, a hollow, greasy, & under cooked shrimp chimichanga, and beans/rice lacking flavor. This restaurant is located in some sort of (former) fast food building and lacks cleanliness. Save your money!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
